Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. She began her Broadway career with musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. In her performance as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers throughout her career. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford has been involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford will return in 2023, and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who produced Hamilton directed the show. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal which was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. Two seasons ago, Ashford was a star of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Her additional Broadway credits includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford is now dividing the time in Los Angeles and New York.
